Thailand is set to alter its visa policies, discontinuing the temporary 60-day visa-free entry scheme that had been advantageous for travelers from several countries, including India. Instead of the extended visa-free stay, Indian passport holders will now need to secure a Visa on Arrival (VoA) upon their arrival in Thailand or apply for an e-Visa prior to their departure.
The Visa on Arrival will permit Indian visitors to remain in Thailand for up to 15 days per entry, a significant reduction from the previous 60-day period. For those who wish to bypass the queues at the airport, an online application through Thailand’s official e-Visa system is available before they embark on their journey. While this change may deter spontaneous travel and last-minute holiday bookings due to the increased paperwork and visa fees, Thailand is still expected to remain a very appealing destination for Indian tourists given its cost-effectiveness, easy flight connections, varied tourism offerings, and robust hospitality industry.

Travelers entering Thailand before this implementation will still be subject to the previous rules and can remain until their granted validity period expires.
