Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, a national campaign aimed at combating drug abuse, particularly among the youth. This initiative is set to unfold over 100 weeks, engaging the public through various activities designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction. These activities, scheduled for Sundays, include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach efforts.
In his virtual address to participants, Modi highlighted the threat posed by drug trafficking, which, he suggested, is being exploited by adversarial forces to undermine India’s interests and weaken its young population. He stressed the urgent need to protect young people from falling into addiction, as their well-being is crucial for the development of a Viksit Bharat, or a developed India.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the involvement of over one crore young individuals from diverse backgrounds who are taking part in this movement. This significant participation reflects a collective commitment to the cause and the importance of this issue for India’s future.
Modi also acknowledged the commitment of lakhs of youths who have vowed to abstain from drugs and have taken it upon themselves to educate others in their communities about the risks of substance abuse. This grassroots effort is seen as essential not only for curbing drug use but also for fostering a healthier, more prosperous society.
