Modi Critiques Economic Burden on Developing Nations for Carbon Emissions.

Date:

As the world grapples with environmental challenges and climate change, developing countries often find themselves unjustly blamed for global carbon emissions despite their lower per capita contributions. This was a key point highlighted by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address at the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” held in New Delhi.

Speaking at the event, Modi emphasized that India’s per capita carbon emissions are significantly below the global average. He underscored the country’s proactive stance on renewable energy, noting that India has already surpassed its climate commitments under the Paris Agreement ahead of schedule. The Prime Minister pointed to the nation’s growing capacity in non-fossil fuels and solar energy as evidence of its commitment to sustainable development.

The two-day conference, which took place on September 19 and 20, was organized by the National Green Tribunal. It convened judges, government officials, environmental experts, and legal representatives from India and abroad to address pressing environmental and climate challenges. Discussions at the conference focused on issues such as policy implementation gaps, environmental justice, and institutional cooperation.

Throughout the event, four technical sessions were held to delve into critical environmental issues and devise strategies to tackle future climate challenges. These discussions aimed to foster collaboration and generate actionable solutions to the complex environmental dilemmas facing the globe today.
