Opsio, a Swedish company specializing in cloud and artificial intelligence solutions, has introduced PrismIQ, a cutting-edge automated visual inspection service tailored for manufacturers aiming to detect production defects in real time. The service is initially being launched in India, with plans for a broader international deployment. This new technology integrates industrial cameras with deep-learning models that are specifically trained to recognize individual manufacturers’ products, allowing it to spot issues like surface defects, cracks, contamination, dimensional variations, and assembly errors during the manufacturing process.
PrismIQ operates on edge hardware directly installed on production lines, which enables rapid processing of inspection results without heavy reliance on manual checks. The gathered data can be seamlessly integrated with existing PLC and SCADA systems to facilitate automated sorting and decision-making on production lines. Opsio’s platform seeks to address the challenges of manual inspection, especially on high-speed manufacturing lines where inspecting each product individually can be challenging. The system’s active-learning capability uses production data to continuously enhance its detection models.
Differentiating itself from standalone vision software, PrismIQ is presented as a comprehensive end-to-end service. Opsio manages all aspects from camera, lens, and lighting setup, to model development and validation, factory-system integration, as well as ongoing operations. The service package also includes training for operators, quality dashboards, and regular performance assessments. The company claims that from an initial feasibility study to full production deployment, the process can be completed within eight to 12 weeks.
The decision to introduce PrismIQ first in India was influenced by the country’s burgeoning manufacturing sector and Opsio’s established presence through its AI Lab in Bengaluru, where industrial AI solutions are developed and tested. The technology itself is engineered at Opsio’s headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden. Currently, PrismIQ is available to manufacturers in the automotive, electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors. Initial engagements start with a feasibility study and proof-of-concept using the manufacturer’s own product samples.
