In a bid to seek justice, Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 aspirant, alongside her father Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, has embarked on a protest mission to Delhi. They are staging a sit-in outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters, contesting the agency’s dismissal of claims regarding the alleged tampering of Arya’s examination results. The protest was ignited following an official statement from the NTA, which refuted allegations from multiple candidates about discrepancies between their results and OMR answer sheets. The agency has maintained that images circulating online are either fabricated, digitally manipulated, or artificially generated, not reflecting the authentic records.
Arya Singh, hailing from Kanpur, is challenging the NTA’s assertion by claiming her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination score was altered post-announcement. According to Arya, her initial score was 570 marks, which later mysteriously reduced to 167. She pointed out anomalies in the OMR sheet provided by the NTA, citing missing question numbers and duplicate serial numbers. Further compounding her grievances, Arya claimed that upon lodging formal objections, the agency provided her with another OMR sheet, showing a score of 609 marks.
The Singh family remains unconvinced by the NTA’s explanations and has vowed to continue their protest until they receive satisfactory clarification. Rakesh Singh has called for the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to address the alleged irregularities that have marred the examination process. Despite these allegations, the NTA stands firm, asserting that all original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores and are equipped with secure identifiers like barcodes and QR codes to prevent tampering.
This controversy is deeply intertwined with the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the initial exam in May due to accusations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating this broader case, aiming to uncover any potential malpractice that may have occurred.
