India Condemns Pakistan’s Label, Citing Economic Implications at UN Meeting

Date:

At a United Nations Security Council meeting, India vehemently criticized Pakistan for its designation of certain groups in the Balochistan region as “Fitna al-Hindustan.” This term, used by Islamabad, suggests foreign-backed destabilization efforts, which India’s envoy to the United Nations, Harish Parvathaneni, condemned as state-sponsored misinformation. He accused Pakistan of manipulating religious terminology to incite animosity against India, arguing that this was part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at deflecting attention from Pakistan’s own internal issues.

Parvathaneni addressed the Security Council, asserting that Pakistan’s narrative is strategically designed to sustain anti-India sentiment rather than confront its domestic political and economic troubles. By using such rhetoric, he suggested, Pakistan aims to divert attention from its internal challenges. The Indian representative’s statements follow Pakistan’s official classification of militant groups in Balochistan with the contentious label, which India argues is an effort to frame India as a destabilizing force in the region.

In addition to these accusations, India expressed concerns over Pakistan’s military operations in Afghanistan, highlighting reports of airstrikes that have led to civilian casualties. Parvathaneni emphasized that civilian deaths are unacceptable under the justification of counterterrorism efforts and demanded accountability for these actions. This stance reflects India’s broader criticism of Pakistan’s military and political strategies, which India claims are attempts to externalize blame for its internal problems.

The Indian envoy further criticized Pakistan’s leadership, both political and military, stating that blaming neighboring countries for Pakistan’s domestic issues would not bring about any real solutions. Instead, India suggests that Pakistan should focus on addressing its internal challenges rather than fostering hostility towards its neighbors. This exchange during the UN meeting underscores the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, as both nations continue to accuse each other of interference and destabilizing activities on the international stage.
