Pralhad Joshi has taken on the role of India’s Education Minister, stepping into the position with a commitment to thoroughly review significant educational policies, including the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. After officially assuming his new responsibilities at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi, Joshi engaged with senior officials from both the School Education and Higher Education Departments. His initial meetings centered on understanding the current initiatives within the ministry.

Joshi, who is new to the education portfolio, acknowledged the learning curve ahead as he familiarizes himself with the intricacies of the ministry’s operations. He emphasized that his immediate focus would be on comprehending the department’s functions before providing in-depth commentary on its programs and policies.

Emphasizing the importance of continuity, Joshi expressed his commitment to maintaining the momentum of existing major education programs. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted him with the task of steering the ministry, and he intends to uphold the trust placed in him by ensuring the effective implementation of the ministry’s objectives.

The assignment of this additional portfolio to Joshi follows the acceptance of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation by President Droupadi Murmu. As Joshi steps into his new role, he carries the responsibility of advancing India’s educational landscape, building upon the groundwork laid by his predecessor.
